COMPETITORS were firing from the toughest range of 700 yards, and the hot humid weather created a mirage across the targets, that was constantly changing direction and at times making the rings almost invisible.
These conditions affected all the shooters with scores so much lower than what is normally achieved, and others succumbing to the heat and retiring before completing their rounds.
B-grade was won by Barry White with a very good 96.7 and turning the tables on Max Purnell who shot 93.5 with Doc Keith Gleeson making 91.2
F-class was won by the competition leader Chris Barnard with 105.4 narrowly defeating Tony Galati who fired 104.1, Phil Costa 101.3, with Mike Rogerson and Rob Bartlett fighting it out for the wooden spoon. Rogerson scored 96.2 and Bartlett fired 96.
F class B was taken out by junior Todd Barnard with two terrific rounds and ended with a total of 110. He achieved a better score than the senior A-graders. Gordon Higgins followed with a good second round for a score of 107.4, and Jon Knight finished with 92.2.
Handicap trophy was won by Todd Barnard.
