The grants are aimed at increasing physical activity and helping communities stay connected.
Sporting groups can apply for up to $3000 to buy essential sporting items and sports injury prevention and management equipment.
Ms Thomas said sporting and recreational clubs were often the centre of regional communities.
“Community sports groups often struggle to afford the equipment they need, that’s where these grants really help,” she said.
“I encourage all teams and clubs across the Macedon Ranges to apply for a VicHealth Active Club grant.”
The Kyneton Basketball Association, Daylesford Basketball Club and Lancefield and District Pony Club have received grants in the past.
VicHealth will this year have two rounds of funding , the second of which will close on February 13.
